Facebook lead forms or a landing page: which brings better leads?
Instant forms are quick to fill in, which is both their strength and their weakness. How to choose, and how to raise lead quality either way.
When running lead generation ads on Facebook and Instagram, you have two main options. You can use Meta's instant forms, which open inside the app with the user's details already filled in, or send people to a landing page on your own website.
Instant forms: more leads, mixed quality
Because the form is pre-filled and never leaves the app, it takes seconds to submit. That usually means more leads at a lower cost per lead. It also means some people submit without much thought, or forget they did. Many businesses find that a share of instant form leads never pick up the phone.
Landing pages: fewer leads, more intent
A landing page asks a little more effort: the page has to load, and the visitor types their details. Fewer people complete it, but those who do have usually read about your service first. A landing page also lets you explain your offer properly, show your work, and offer WhatsApp as an alternative.
Ways to improve instant form quality
- Use the higher intent form type, which adds a review step before submitting.
- Add one or two qualifying questions, such as property type or preferred timing.
- Be clear in the ad about what happens next, for example a call within one working day.
- Contact new leads quickly. Interest fades within hours, not days.
How to decide
Judge both options on cost per qualified lead or cost per customer, not cost per lead. If your sales team can follow up fast and your offer is simple, instant forms can work well. If your service needs explanation or the decision is considered, a landing page often wins on quality. Testing both with a small budget is the most reliable way to find out for your business.
We plan and test both approaches for our social media clients, and track which leads actually turn into conversations.
